Supplies:
- 5-6 oz Leather (bag-type, medium temper) Tanner used:
- Kodiak Oil-Tanned Sides in Brown 9075-72 and
- Montana Veg-Tan Sides in Tan 9159-53
- 9-10 oz Leather for straps Tanner used:
- Latigo Premium Sides in Tan 9059-74
- Tanner's Bond Permanent Adhesion Tape (3/8” and 1/8” wide) 2535-00, 03
- TandyPro® Thread 207 in White 0784-34
- TandyPro® Burnishing Solution 2621-01
- 3) 1" Center Bar Roller Buckles 1512-13
- Binder clips
- Lay out leather and cut out pattern from 5-6 oz. leather
- Cut 1” straps from 9-10 oz. leather
- Punch all holes (1/8” and 1” oblong punches)
- Make rivet “washers” (1/8” and 5/8” punches)
- Bevel all edges on all the pieces as needed (w/ edge beveler)
- Burnish all edges as needed (burnishing solution and burnishing machine + canvas/slicker)
- Skive edges where needed (NP4)
- Sew lash tabs and strap attachment piece onto bag using 1/8” double sided tape (Class 4 with table attachment, double presser foot)
- Add double sided tape (3/8”) for joining large panels together
- Sew bag panels together (Class 4 w/ table attachment and double presser foot)
- Add double sided tape (3/8”) to rolled edges on top of bag
- Sew rolled edges on top end of bag (Class 4 w/ table attachment, single presser foot/roller edge guide)
- Attach straps and buckles using copper/brass rivets
- Sew vertical seams using binder clips (Class 4 w/ table attachment, single presser foot/roller edge guide)
- Cut “notch” at gusset
- Remove table attachment
- Sew bottom gusset using binder clips (Class 4, no table, double presser foot)
- Punch top of seam for rivet on each side (1/8” punch)
- Set rivet to reinforce top of seam (at each side on top of bag)
- Flip bag right-side out
- Attach shoulder straps into lower buckles
